Click on the table below for an enlarged version of the table as a PDF image Experience has shown that the performance of the electric Wheel Hub Direct Drive system is dependent on the diameter of the wheel hub itself and the permissible or practical width of the unit. Five wheel hub models have currently been designed of which three have already been extensively tested in aluminum and steel versions.
Below a certain diameter or available space it will be difficult to achieve sufficient torque for power applications. For that purpose a Non Wheel Hub Direct Drive product line, starting with the e-Traction® SM350/1, has been created in which essentially all benefits of the wheel hub motor are contained in a system that can be placed in the center of the vehicle.
