The newly designed low floor front wheel drive axle is a combination of the independent suspension arm mounted on a more or less common front wheel bus axle. Though in the illustration configuration with TheWheel™ SM500/2FE shown below; it is also suitable for TheWheel™ SM500/1 series. This new axle provides the unique option of front or four wheel drive on buses. Though technically speaking unnecessary; for regulatory reasons the front wheels are connected with a conventional rod to eliminate the possibility of misalignment. The walkway in European layout is 70 cm and in North American configuration 80 cm. The maximum load on each wheel is 3 metric tons.
