Extremely low floor applications now simplified: with the e-Traction® direct drive system combined with the specially designed universal axle.
With TheWheel™ SM500/3FE, spring leaf suspension arrangement and Knorr brake system Each TheWheel™ SM500/3FE is about 100 millimeters longer thus reducing the aisle space by about twice that amount when compared to the TheWheel™ SM500/2FE used in the illustrations and drawings below.
We designed a universal rear axle for the TheWheel™ SM500/2FE traction system. The royal blue colored section can easily be installed to the same mounting points found on commonly used rear axles. The original brake system can be maintained to ensure the vehicle's compliance with the homologation certification. With the same super-single Michelin X One XDU, 455/45 R22.5 tire used on the Whisper a floor level at roughly 45 centimeters above the road surface and an aisle between the wheels of almost 90 centimeters are considered possible.
